Students Master Research Techniques
Students learn how to identify types of books, develop literacy skills, conduct research, and access Clever, Follet Destiny, Encyclopedia Britannica, Tumblebooks, Typesy Keyboarding, and Book Taco for reading recall.
Students Test Knowledge
Students learn to find appropriate digital and hard-copy resources. Students use the single sign-on portal, Clever, to access numerous educational programs. Students use Book Taco to read and take comprehension quizzes, develop their vocabulary, complete graphic organizers and book reviews, and hone literary skills. Students and families also enjoy the annual Book Fair.
Annual Battle of the Books Competition
Third, fourth, and fifth-grade students compete against other schools in the Battle of the Books Competition each fall. Battle of the Books is a reading and recall competition hosted by the BRCS Media Center. These students read 18 books for six weeks and competed in a gameshow setting against seven other teams to win the final battle.
